If you haven't already, install homebrew. This guide was cobbled together from various sources (replies above as well as other posts), and works perfect. And within Homebrew, use: homebrew-cask to install the versions of java. The cleanest way to manage multiple java versions on Mac is to use Homebrew.
In cmd, java seems to be running fine: C:Usersjkkkjava -version java version '' Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build -b12) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.211-b12, mixed mode). It has to be noted that the functionality of the required runtime software is no different from that of the following releases: 2013-005, 2014-001, 2015-001. Once this is done, the graphics editor can be operated as usual. To run Photoshop CS3 on a Mac under macOS High Sierra, the legacy version of Java has to be installed.
